    Abstract

Elective caesarean section is short duration surgery. So, it require anaesthesia of shorter duration ie. Spinal Anaesthesia (SA) it has various advantages over general anaesthesia. Chloroprocaine having shorter half-life and potentially favourable for short procedures. The study conducted to compare the efficacy of Chloroprocaine 1% versus Chloroprocaine 1% with dexmedetomidine in spinal anaesthesia for lower abdominal Lower Segment (uterine) caesarean section (LSCS). Material and Methods: Study was carried out between July 2021 till June 2022. Participants were divided into Group-C and Group-D and in each group 30 participants were recruited. Group-C 4ml (40mg) of 1% Chloroprocaine +1ml NS, 5 ml and in Group-D 4 ml (40mg) of 1% Chloroprocaine with 5µg (1ml) dexmedetomidine, 5 ml. After giving block, haemodynamic parameters were monitored at different intervals and visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate pain. Results: Mean onset of sensory (Minutes), duration of motor and sensory (Minutes), total dose in 12 hours, No. of dose of analgesia between Group-C and Group-D were found significant better in Group-D. Conclusion: The onset of sensory effect was significantly early in Group-D as compared to Group-C. The Group-D (Chloroprocaine 1% with dexmedetomidine) required less amount of total dose and need for analgesic dose were also less
