Abstract
The safety margin of tracheal tube cuff pressure lies between excessive and insufficient pressure. Specifically, insufficient pressure can lead to air leakage, which lessens the effect of mechanical ventilation and results in the leakage of inhalation anesthetics, while excessive pressure can cause serious injury and affect blood flow to the tracheal mucosa, resulting in cough, hoarseness of voice prolonged intubation may cause tracheal stenosis, fistula, or tracheal rupture. Movement of the head and neck and the resulting displacement of the tracheal tube can alter cuff pressure.
