Abstract
Background: Anthropometric indices and body measurements are used as indicators of measures of body fat distribution since axial computed tomography (the gold standard to assess body fat distribution) is expensive as well as time-consuming. The most appropriate anthropometric index to assess body fat distribution still remains unclear. Measures of centralized adiposity like Waist circumference (WC) Waist-To-Hip-Ratio (WHR), etc are superior to Body Mass Index (BMI) which is the most commonly used and available index, in detecting cardiovascular risk factors.
