Abstract
Recent trends have shown an increased prescription of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as diclofenac sodium. It is believed that these drugs are highly effective medications for treating a wide range of ailments. In conjunction with the increase in prescriptions, there is an increase in adverse effects including cardiovascular toxicity, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and renal toxicity. The chances of developing serious side effects from these drugs are higher among elderly patients, so it is imperative to evaluate how these drugs have been described.
