Abstract
Background: Dengue virus (DENV), the most important arthropod- borne disease is transmitted to humans by mosquitos of the Aedes family. All four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4) can cause the disease which can present as a mild self-limiting illness, dengue fever (DF), or as the more severe forms of the disease, dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) or dengue shock syndrome (DSS).
