    Abstract

One of the most common causes of musculoskeletal impairment is osteoarthritis of the knee. Osteoarthritis is a prevalent, debilitating illness that has significant social and economic consequences in addition to the personal toll it takes on those who suffer from it. Material and Methods: This is a prospective longitudinal study of 25 patients with primary osteoarthritis of the knee from the Outpatient Department of Orthopaedics at Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College/ Government General Hospital, Nalgonda, Telangana between April 2021 to March 2022. PRP was generated in the Department of Transfusion Medicine after a thorough clinical evaluation and knee x-rays were taken on patients at the same institution. All infiltrations were performed in a sterile operating room. Results: The mean WOMAC scores for grade I knee joints decreased significantly between day 0 and month 1 and again between month 1 and month 6, for a total improvement of 73.19%. From day 0 to month 1 and from month 1 to month 6, the average pain ratings for grade II knee joints decreased significantly. The average pain rating clearly decreased between day 0 and the end of the first month. Conclusion: One of the most common causes of musculoskeletal impairment is osteoarthritis of the knee. Osteoarthritis is a prevalent, debilitating illness that has significant social and economic consequences in addition to the personal toll it takes on those who suffer from it.
