Abstract
Background and Aim- Laryngocopy and intubation are noxious stimuli invoking response like hypertension, tachycardia and arrhythmia. In high risk patient , response to laryngoscopy and intubation associated with morbidity and mortality thus study for better agent is going on. Methods- This is a randomised prospective double blind controlled study . 60 ASA status 1 and ASA 2 patients were divided into two equal group of 30 each patient. Group 1 received 6 mg oral Melatonin and Group 2 received 150 mg oral Pregabalin tablet 2 hours prior to induction of General anaesthesia. General anaesthesia techniques were standard for all patient. Primary outcome measured were heart rate, systolic blood pressure , diastolic blood pressure, , mean arterial blood pressure before and after induction induction , at intubation and 1, 3 , 5 and 10 min after intubation. Secondary outcome measure were Ramsay sedation score, pain score by VAS.
