Abstract
The most common kind of dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), is characterised by the buildup of the proteins -amyloid protein (A42) and phosphorylated tau protein (P-tau), which causes cognitive loss and neuronal damage. Due to the limits of currently available AD medicines, other treatment agents must be investigated. Alkaloids in particular have shown potential in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.
