Abstract
Background: Scrub typhus, caused by the bacterium Orientia tsutsugamushi, is a vector-borne disease transmitted to humans through the bite of infected chiggers. It is endemic to the AsiaPacific region and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality if left untreated.
