Abstract
Background- Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. Obesity is a major potentially modifiable risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Clinical evidence suggests that the association of diabetes with central obesity is stronger than its association with general fat. Waist circumference and waist/hip ratio have been used as measures of central obesity and body mass index has been used as a measure of general obesity
