    Abstract

    Surgical site infections (SSI) are the commonest nosocomial infections. Despite the advances in surgical sciences post-operative wound infection remains one of the common complication which surgeons encounter. Based on NNIS system reports, Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) are the third most frequently reported nosocomial infection, accounting for 14 to 16 percent of all nosocomial infections among hospitalized patients. SSIs remain a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients
