Abstract
Background: Fibrosis resulting from cirrhosis is the result of this one-way process of liver parenchymal inflammation, destruction, and regeneration. Early identification of varices and good treatment boost life expectancy and successfully minimise the risk of bleeding. Transient Elastography (TE) is a non-intrusive test for measuring liver stiffness and fibrosis and has recently gained popularity. According to Baveno VI Criteria, patients with compensated advanced liver disease, platelet count (PLT) > 150,000/µL and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) < 20kPa can avoid screening endoscopy for high-risk varices (HRVs).
