    Abstract

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the prevalence of anxiety disorders among college students and explore the associated factors. Methods: A representative sample of students from multiple colleges was selected for data collection. A structured questionnaire was administered to assess anxiety disorders and gather relevant information. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine prevalence rates and identify associated factors. Results: Among the 159 participants included in the analysis, 46.54% met the diagnostic criteria for at least one anxiety disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) was found to be the most prevalent, followed by social anxiety disorder (SAD) and panic disorder (PD). Female students exhibited a higher prevalence of anxiety disorders compared to their male counterparts. Academic stress, financial concerns, relationship issues, and social pressures were identified as significant risk factors. Students with a family history of anxiety disorders were also more likely to experience anxiety themselves. Anxiety disorders were associated with impaired academic performance, decreased quality of life, and increased utilization of healthcare services. Conclusion: Anxiety disorders are prevalent among college students and have significant implications for their mental health and academic performance. By recognizing the associated factors and providing appropriate support, educational institutions can contribute to the overall well-being of their students. Further research is needed to explore additional contributing factors and assess long-term effects on mental health.
